3d Building Generalization Based on Half-space Modeling

چکیده

This article presents a novel approach for the automatic generalization of 3D building models with regard to a cartographic 3D visualization. Here, the goal is not to render realistic, but rather visually appealing images of an urban scene. The geometric simplification is realized by remodeling the object by means of a process similar to half space modeling. Approximating planes are determined from the polygonal faces of the original model, which are then used as space dividing primitives to create façade and roof structures that are of simpler shape. In order to improve the final shape of the simplified building models, form optimization steps like hole filling, fragment removal and vertex contraction are further used.

Generalization of 3d Building Data Based on Scale-spaces

For an interactive visualization of three dimensional (3D) city models a Level of Detail representation is extremely useful to avoid unnecessary computations. Differently detailed models of the same object are displayed depending on the distance of the object. This implies that less detailed models have to be generated from complex models (generalization). In this paper an approach for the auto...

Generalization of 3d Building Models for Map-like Presentations

The automatic generalization of 3D building models has been a topic of research for almost a decade. Several approaches for the simplification of single objects have been proposed and shown to be valid. Such models of low geometric detail are needed for maplike presentation. In this paper, a generalization algorithm is presented that is based on the decomposition of space along the major planes...

3D Point Correspondence by Minimum Description Length in Feature Space

Finding point correspondences plays an important role in automatically building statistical shape models from a training set of 3D surfaces. For the point correspondence problem, Davies et al. [1] proposed a minimum-description-length-based objective function to balance the training errors and generalization ability. A recent evaluation study [2] that compares several well-known 3D point corres...

Developing a BIM-based Spatial Ontology for Semantic Querying of 3D Property Information

With the growing dominance of complex and multi-level urban structures, current cadastral systems, which are often developed based on 2D representations, are not capable of providing unambiguous spatial information about urban properties. Therefore, the concept of 3D cadastre is proposed to support 3D digital representation of land and properties and facilitate the communication of legal owners...

Modeling of Fault Co-seismic Displacement Fields in Elastic Environments Based on Spherical Dislocation Theory

This research is based on the modeling of co-seismic deformations due to the fault movement in the elastic environments, and we can obtain the deformations generated in the faults. Here, modeling of the co-seismic displacement field is based on the analytical method with two spherical dislocation model and half-space dislocation model. The difference in displacement field from two spherical and...
